Aviation research projects depend on the participation and assistance of industry partners, including aircraft manufacturers and suppliers. Our location in Wichita, Kan., a major aircraft manufacturing site, provides convenient access to this industry. According to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, Wichita-based aircraft companies produced seven out of every 10 planes delivered in the first six months of 1998, representing 59 percent of total billings, not including commercial jetliners.

Today, Wichita is home to five major aircraft manufacturers: Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna and Hawker Beechcraft. These companies contribute expertise, facilities and human resources which enable us to conduct research we would be unable to do by ourselves.
