FACILITIES & EQUIPMENT
The Fatigue and Fracture Lab is considered one of the best-equipped laboratories in the nation for mechanical fatigue testing. Lab facilties and equipment include:
- 1,850 sq. ft. laboratory space
- 200 sq. ft. hydraulic pump room
- 4 MTS TestStar IIm test controllers with multi-channel data-acquisition capabilities
- 6 - 5.5 kip servo-hydraulic MTS load units
- 8 - 22 kip servo-hydraulic MTS load units
- A 220 kip MTS servo-hydraulic MTS load unit configured to perform high strain-rate testing
- 4 channels of fractomat, a clip gage, a laser extensometer and a stereoscope to monitor fatigue crack growth
- A salt-fog chamber to conduct stress corrosion and environmental fatigue testing
